For a while now, discussions and arguments has been on about who the beat street artiste is, while some root for Slimcase, another section argue with facts that since Small Doctor won the best street hop award, he is, therefore, the best street artiste.

However, both artistes recently released new singles which were actually street bangers.

Late last month, Small Doctor dropped his highly anticipated single, Remember. Remember was actually an extended play from his last song “This Year“.

Remember is exceptional and quite different from the routine Small Doctor songs we’ve listened to in the person. With a bit of Shaku Shaku sounds banging out silently at the background, it still retains the basic Small Doctor sounds – Pangolo music.

Small Doctor is just normal on Remember.

He gives us some nursery rhymes when he said:-

Oh My home [oh my home]
Oh my home [oh my home]
When shall I see my home, ain?
When shall I see my native land?

It’s just the regular Small Doctor on remember, what’s a little bit extraordinary was the elements of Shaku Shaku that played out at the intro of the song as this was surprising as it seemed Small Doctor was not in support of the Shaku Shaku wave.

Highly anticipated “Otunba Lamba” somehow lives up to the hype. I just hope Slimcase paid the producer well because the beat accentuates the lyrics and made it a monster hit.

On Otunba Lamba, Slimcase talks about meeting Wizkid and how he created the Lamba (Shaku Shaku) and how people embraced it quickly.

While it’s still the normal Slimcase we’ve heard on features, he made Otunba Lamba different and quite unique with the melodies he inculcated into this song.

Every element of the wobey sound was introduced into this song and it really a mad ass song from Slimcase.

On a final note, for a song to be a street hit, the beat has to be a mad one. One that people can dance to.

The beat lays the foundation for a hit song. What the artiste needs to do is to have a nice flow and some feel-good melody to accompany the beat.
